The Big Lie

This is a true story of a young man in his early teens...He was just your everyday kind of guy...nothing strange about him but nothing outstanding either, though he had so much potential. He lived as normal a life as anybody and sort of just did his best to fit in. After all, isn't that all you can ask from a teenager. Get through things by just getting by.

So that's what he did. In the meantime he was slowly becoming entangled by something that would later pose a huge problem in his life. Pornography first... then everything else, except intercourse...This was his rationalization! “If I don't have intercourse, it's not sex.” Sure. It was easy to buy into that kind of an idea. It takes a lot of strength to get through all the issues in life so when we compromise on some issues, it is not quite as difficult. But what he didn't realise was that as he was doing all those other things (but abstaining from sexual intercourse) with girlfriends he was becoming intimately tied to them. Later in life, much later, when he married, he realised that those other sexual indulgences had tainted his expectations of marriage and the desires for pornography didn't go away even with sexual intercourse now in his life. Now, faced with the fact that he can't seem to control his sexual urges he realized one thing...if only he had stopped sooner, perhaps life wouldn't be so complicated and difficult now.

So what's the big deal anyway you might ask. He just fooled around with some of his girlfriends in the past. Isn't that a standard right of passage for young men and women? The big deal is that now he is dealing with a full blown sexual addiction that had a stronghold on his life... governing his thoughts, actions, and motivations. This sexual addiction was pulling him away from the woman he loved and covering him in a cloak of darkness...guilt, depression and shame all the while distancing him from the Father of Lights, Jesus Christ, the one whom he was desperately wanting to serve.

Consider that you may not feel as though you have a problem today with the sexual impurity that may have invaded your mind but down the road you may wake up to the fact that you aren't living your own life. It's being determined for you by your burning desires of sexual impurities and you are in bondage to your sexual addiction which is now no different than that of a drug addict hooked on meth or cocaine. Obviously it's not easy to be free of sexual impure thoughts because they have become your every focus. But now there is another way to control them. You can live a pure life that will speak volumes about your character and your inner most desire to be set free of your sexual addiction.

Do you want to win this sexual battle? God is waiting to bless you! Your sexual purity and your sexual desires are of great concern to Him. Sexual impurity is a result of the bad choices and decisions you have made in your life because of your immature character. Holiness is the result of the right choices and decisions you make in life...it is choosing not to sin.
